Sega released follow-ups for Saturn ( Panzer Dragoon Saga), Game Gear ( Panzer Dragoon Mini), and Xbox ( Panzer Dragoon Orta) in the following years.

The first two Panzer Dragoon games, both rail shooters, were released for Sega Saturn in 19. That’s not as unusual as it might sound, as a number of Sega-owned properties in development are being created with seemingly little involvement from Sega itself - the Deep Silver-published Shenmue 3 and DotEmu-published Streets of Rage 4, for example. When we reached out to Sega for additional info, a representative for Sega of America referred us to Forever Entertainment, saying it wasn’t involved in the project. The company promises “completely new graphics compatible with today’s standards and several modifications of the game, making it more attractive to modern players, while remaining faithful to the original in terms of story.”īeyond that, there are no further details about what to expect Forever Entertainment didn’t announce platforms or a developer. The first of those products, titled Panzer Dragoon: Remake, is expected to arrive sometime in 2019.įorever Entertainment’s announcement calls the games “refreshed version” of the Panzer Dragoon games. I was just hoping for something more "special".The first two Panzer Dragoon games, Panzer Dragoon and Panzer Dragoon 2 Zwei, are being remade by Polish publisher Forever Entertainment, according to an official announcement from the company. I played it for 10+ hours and have no regrets. At 3 bucks which is the current sale price, maybe it is worth giving it a shot for a few hours if you're itching for some more Panzer Dragoon. That said, I kind of had fun playing it and at its best it can feel a bit like Panzer Dragoon. The art direction and music feel more generic too and there are also some free flight missions with poor controls. That really pulls you out of the adventure and makes it feel like you aren't on an epic journey, you are just playing a generic phone game for fun. Missions also have objectives like "kill all enemies" or pick up some sort of beacons and at the end you are graded on a scale between E and S rank. You pick missions from a menu, rewards come in terms of bars filling up and items you use between missions, it has multiplayer, you can hire the avatars of your XBL friends as "wingmen" to help you out and it has full 360 twin stick controls.

Crimson Dragon just feels like it's doing everything it can to feel like a modern game and that comes at the price of it just not feeling very "special". The art style, music and worlds just feel unique and there is a sense of mystery and adventure as you go along your journey. Panzer Dragoon games are works of art for me. I thought it was okay when I got used to the controls but it's just not a very memorable. Click to shrink. It's on sale for about $3 right now on Xbox.
